Toronto Pearson would like to thank all members of the Youth Cohort for their participation.

In September 2017, Toronto Pearson and the Institute for Canadian Citizenship (ICC) partnered together to form of the Toronto Pearson Youth Cohort at 6 Degrees. This program offered the unique opportunity for 15 dynamic young leaders drawn from Toronto Pearson communities to focus on the theme of youth employment.

The Cohort was developed under the Uplift Fund, a part of Toronto Pearson’s community investment program, the Propeller Project. This fund works to build partnerships focused on employment and bridging the gaps that the community faces to securing meaningful employment.

360: Propelling Youth Employment in the GTA

Over six weeks, the Youth Cohort has had various discussions about youth employment and what it means to them as a group and individually. The Cohort has also worked together to organize their own event called 360: Propelling Youth Employment in the GTA which was held on December 13, 2017.

At this event, there were speakers from public, private and entrepreneurial sectors that addressed the topic of youth employment in the GTA. The speakers and audience engaged in lively discussions about systemic barriers to youth employment and the role that policy changes, the private sector and funding bodies can play in addressing them.
